St Gerard's society
The ‘St. Gerard’s Society’ (founded in this area by Fr. Curtin) is an ‘Association’ for all mothers of Catholic children. Therefore, non-Catholic mothers are welcomed, and indeed we have several within our existing groups. We are pleased to have both mothers of young children and mothers whose children have grown up and left home, as this promotes wide-ranging experiences and opinions for our discussions.
Groups are usually formed with a maximum of twelve members who meet regularly once a fortnight in their own homes. At present we have two groups running, ‘St. Anne’s’ which meets fortnightly on Tuesday evenings; and ‘St, Catherine’s’ which meets fortnightly on Wednesday evenings both at 8.30 p.m.
New members are always welcome. Our meetings include prayer, spiritual reading and group discussion. We are not a fund-raising organisation. Our aim is to promote friendship.
