FIRST HOLY COMMUNION PROGRAMME AT ST. THOMAS OF CANTERBURY

We warmly invite families to join our parish’s First Holy Communion preparation programme. This joyful journey is open to children in school year 3 and above who are practicing their faith within our parish community.

Programme Overview
  • Start: October
  • Location: Parish Centre, St Thomas of Canterbury Church
  • Schedule: Thursday evenings, with seven sessions held monthly between October and May
  • Format: Children and parents attend together, guided by our dedicated catechists

Faith Begins at Home
Parents are the primary educators of faith, and this programme is designed to support you in that role. Each session encourages shared learning, prayer, and reflection, helping children explore:
  • The gifts God has given them
  • The meaning of praise, worship, repentance, and thanksgiving
  • The joy of receiving Jesus in the Eucharist

Key Milestones
  • First Reconciliation: Celebrated during Advent in a special service with individual confessions
  • First Holy Communion: Received at a weekend Mass, typically in early May

All Are Welcome
All children of the required age whether or not they attend a Catholic school are welcome. We celebrate the diversity of our parish and encourage all families to take part.

How to Enrol
An invitation to enrol is published each September via:
